Once Bittern...

Visited Suan Rot Fai this morning for the first time in almost three months, bird of the day was this YELLOW BITTERN which gave excellent views as it hunted amongst the lotus plants on the main lake. This is only the second time I've seen the species in SRF.

Other photo opportunities included a juvenile PIED FANTAIL, and a rather striking dragonfly (of which I have no idea about the identity, though I was interested to see this news article the other day which, as mentioned on the Oriental Birding newsgroup, might give some clues about Amur Falcon migration).
